My second homemade strop attempt
I just finished putting together my second homemade strop. All the parts for this were sourced locally. The leather was from an unused piece of old belting for a mill or factory of some sort. I got a few of these sections in a roll at a barn sale but only one was still unused. I cleaned it, treated it over several days with a little neetsfoot oil, and worked it with my hands to limber it up. The linen came from an old fire hose I found at a local flea market. I cleaned it over several days of soaking and rinsing, cut it to length, then sealed the ends with superglue to prevent unraveling. To make the hole for the hardware I superglued a spot first then when that was dry drilled a hole through. The hardware came from the same flea market off a broken old strop. I used a wood burning tool to embellish the leather a bit just for fun. The "520" was just some number that happened to be stamped on this particular section. Not too bad for homemade I guess :D
