I’m sure a lot of you own the SRD modular strop. I guess I was a little late to the sad closing of SRD and didn’t buy any replacement felt pads or the English bridle leather pads. How would you recommend making those yourself?

Might want to email them and see if they had a source they were using you could contact directly
I will go ahead and do that. Good call.
My suggestion is buy another paddle strop, when strops are custom made like these and the shop closes for whatever reasons your kinda SOL....
You might consider a loom strop like a Tensio as the leathers are just strips that clamp in and you could pretty much get any supplier of good leather to cut a piece the same size as the original or if you really like the paddle over a loom Rasurpur offers a similar design to the SRD modular
I did hear back from Don. They said it’s a proprietary product that will be transferred to whoever buys the company. Just keeping everyone posted.

I believe I have an extra felt pad and maybe a leather pad as well (don't know if it's the English Bridal I purchased it with several other items.) but if you're interested I can look and see what I have.
Matt...
Thanks Matt. Yea please let me know what you have. Also PM me the price. I appreciate it.
Rasurpur is closing at the end of this year. However they might have something to help.

I am in the same boat but with an SRD long English bridle hanging strop. Lynn used to sell replacement leathers for his strops at reasonable prices but alas, no more.
Did my SRD Modular Strop with English Bridle and Premium 1 leathers, rough leather, and felts just increase in value? :hmmm:
Too bad a purchase from Rasurpur requires a bank transfer, sort of kills any clearance savings to be had.
My go to strop is a Russian shell that is at least 50 years old maybe more. And I figure it's got another 100 left. If your marking your strops then your technique is way off. I don't see how anyone even a barber could wear out a strop to need a replacement.
I am in the same situation.
Does anyone knows what is the metallic material that is glued to the bottom of the pads so they can attach to the paddle? I was thinking to buy some pieces of leather and make my own pads, as soon as I find a thin enough metallic sheet.
If I am cutting new hides, and depending on their size I can sometimes make longer pieces. I usually cut an entire side, back or bend into an assortment of my usual sizes all at once and then finish them as orders come in so most of my stock is already sized. I do keep a "want list" for special stuff and try to accommodate when I can.
I am a tall guy (6' 6") with long arms and really find the normal 17 1/2" or so of stropping length to be more than enough for me. I do enjoy my long more Traditional plain square cut end strops from time to time but even at 24" once you allow for what you hand holds you really don't get that much more length.
Tony Miller comes thru once again, getting any of his strops will not disappoint as he has a strong commitment to customer service and a top quality product
