    Default Antique Store Find

I found a couple of strops at an antique store today. Wasn't actually looking for shaving related items but happened to notice these by the check out. They are really dry and the price was right $19.00 for the reddish colored one and $10 for the brown one. The brown one has some scratches and is warped but for $10.00 I figured it was worth it.

The condition on the reddish one looks good in the pictures. The brown one was likely worth a shot. If nothing else, once it is cleaned and oiled you can paste it if there is not enough of the epidermis left for a smooth surface. If the top layer is gone it will be more like suede, which is not bad for paste at all.

Yup, nice ones are getting harder to find, both appear savable and the linen and hardware were worth the price, if you can save the leather it is a plus.

Hydrate slowly over a period of weeks to months, I like Ballistol and water to rehydrate. Nice find.
