I purchased a convex black ark stone last year and got excellent results so I decided to purchase a convex plate and do some of my stones. I recently brought up a hold Murray Carter video showing him honing on a piece of leather on a hard surface. He stated you get much better results than using the regular leather hanging strop. I decided to take a piece of balsa wood and convex it. I felt if I was getting excellent results on a convex stone, it made sense to strop on a convex surface. My results: The shave is much better stropping on a hard or firm surface than on a regular hanging strop, I can do 10-15 laps on the convex instead of 60+ on a hanging strop. The shave is considerably better from the hard surface strop. Under a magnifying glass, the edge is much smoother, the razor and edge stay flat on the convex compared to a regular strop, last, it is inexpensive to make one. I understand there are some who don't believe in convex stones. I am not selling convex stones, plates or strops. I am stating my results based on using the convex method.Name: IMG_0012.jpeg
