Thanked: 44SRD Linen options
How does the cotton linen option on the SRD strops compare to the nylon webbing option ?
Thanks.

Thanked: 1903It contains more linen, but less nylon.
Seriously, I have both. I like the look and feel of the linen a lot better, but the nylon is more effective, both with and without paste.

Robin

Thanked: 363Nylon is actually stronger then steel in tensillary strength at least. I have the webbing with CROX (hand american) its outstanding! I have to try the diamond sprayed lined to be a better judge but I love the webbing.

I agree with Robin. I like the IDEA of cotton or linen better than the Nylon, but the Nylon is proving to be more effective. In fact, it's been quite impressive.

Thanked: 44Nylon
Does the nylon tend to cause chipping on the edge easier due to it's deeper texture ?
Does the unpasted nylon tend to "refresh" the edge any less well given it's slicker nature ?
Thanks.

I like linen; however the webbing works great. I use the webbing on my srd bridle that I have had at my b/s for the last 9 months. I use it about 4-5 times a day. It works great!!!

The SRD webbing is a really nice "cloth" option, IMO. Used as a pre-leather, unpasted strop it's awesome. (Can't comment on pasted versions.) The only thing is, there's so little draw it's a little unnerving at first. At least for me it was.

I had linen on my first Dorko strop, and my main strop now is an SRD 3" black latigo with the webbed fabric. The webbed fabric works brilliantly and I've not noticed any major difference between the two materials.

Thanked: 530Wow... and here I was going to get the Herringbone cotton on my Premium I to compliment my Bridle and Nylon
I knew the stuff works, but that's just a resounding, standing ovation. I, too, have great results from it!
Also, for those of you asking about pasting... If you want to paste SRD Nylon, the SRD Chromium Oxide crayon works PHENOMENALLY! Also, if you want to paste their wool felt, go with the diamond spray. Neither will let you down if you just put it on the right material
Cheers,
Jeremy
