Thanks Thomas
I've heard alot about this paddle and I've been wanting to experiment with keeping my razor sharp with diamond spray or chromium oxide but did not know exactly which or how. Now I know exactly which and what paddle to pair them with. to reconfirm, if my blade is extremely dull i use the Chromium paste (on rough leather) and if it is not quite dull (but not extremely) I use the diamond spray (on wool felt). Then strop with the smooth leather. Sound about right? Thanks for a great review.

You are welcome.
If the razor is extremely dull, you need to go to the hone. When the razor is just below the level of shave ready after you stropped it on leather, you either go to the diamond paste or the cromium oxide. Some swear to cromium, some to diamond. The great thing is, that you can experiment and find out what YOU think works the best.![]()

so would you ever use chromium oxide and paste together in a rotation or prob not?

I am not sure what you mean.
The cromium oxide is 0.5 micron.
I havent used it much, because I am trying to learn the diamond sprays, and they give great results. But the idea is to always move to a finer grit, so I could go from the 1.0 micron diamond spray to the 0.5 cromium, to the 0.25 diamond spray.
Or I could go from the hone to the cromium, and then to the plain leather.
But I am really not the one that can give you the best advice on this, there are more experienced users here, that can share their knowledge with you. I am simply following Lynns advice, which is to use diamond spray on hard wool felt, because he believes that it gives a smoother edge. I will take his word for it!![]()

Got you - I understand now about the moving to finer grit within the pastes and sprays. Thank you. Now I just need to get one.![]()
