Default Taped spine when using balsa wood strop with Cromox

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I was wondering is if the spine should be taped when freshening up the edge on a Balsa Wood strop with Cromox?

Welcome to SRP. I would say only if you've taped the spine to hone the razor. If the blade has been honed with tape I would continue with the tape on balsa but not on my strop.

Thanks for the advise, I am not sure I got my razors honed by a honemeister who I will have to ask.

How many laps should be be done on the Balsa Cromox strop?

Well you don't need to do any unless the razor feels harsh or is pulling. If that is the case I might do five round trips, maybe seven or ten. If that doesn't improve the feel/sharpness I would look to the hone or if you have it maybe diamond spray or paste.
