Non traditional strop question

Newspaper actually works well in a pinch. Try to use a sheet that has lots of ink on it, like a dark picture.

Never used a bible as a strop but I used to roll my own cigarettes and when I would run out of paper the unprinted pages in the front and back were just the right thickness for cigarette paper...I know. I'm going to hell.:deal::chop::gaah:

Interestingly, printer's ink nowadays is made from a rubberlike polymer. Perhaps this is responsible for the 'draw', and the carbon or metal pigments for abrasion.
