Rotating stop material?

I dont know if this has been covered before but I havent seen it. Does anyone rotate their leather and/or linen of their strops to keep wear even. My leather doesnt really show any wear yet but I have been noticing the linen is starting to show some on the side that always gets used. It would be easy to remove the screws and turn around and put back together maybe even flipping it all the way over, which would give four different working surfaces to prolong the wear. What do you guys think, worth it or no need?

I'd advice against it, I heard that the theory behind the linen side is thusly: the woven mature of the material will take off crud and small bits of loose metal from the edge. These become lodged into the woven fabric and move to the bottom(the lower side of the strop).

So stropping on that side will polish the edge with bits of metal and gunk. In theory at least.

Maybe it is just and old wives tale, who knows. But until someone comes with a better explanation I'm sticking with this one.

If you look at vintage strops that are 100 years old they still function just fine as long as they have not been abused. If anything the linen gets dirty but I've never seen one worn out. I wouldn't worry about it.
