Well, I wanted a loom strop.

So I made one to my specs,Found a source for 2x48 continuous tanned and finished steerhide,(they also carry 72 in.) are for some sort of Knife sharpening machine.
Wanted it 24 long so this worked perfect,one side I will paste with Crox,the other.who knows,maybe just use it as a strop,is not for travel,stays in the shop.
All the fittings are real lignum Vitae (scrap) central threaded shaft,two guide bars.
Was actually quite alot of work but a good time had by all:)

Nice work. Does not look like the typical DIY strop :) at 24" that thing could be used as a weapon.

Very nice! Just an idea for long ones it might be better to put an extra fixed plate somewhere in the middle so that leather stays flat all the time.

Actually you can make the leather Extreamly taught so flatness is not an issue.
Had a piece of Bullhide shell laying around so I made another,stropping surface is about 14 long X 3in.
.145 thick but very pliable,couple others in the works.

The tensioner plate has to have threads of some sort,If using a metal plate this is no problem,that is how most you can buy are made,a nut with the same threads is just welded in place and the main adjusting rod screws thru it.In my case using hardwood,I counterbored a hole and inserted a 1 in, long coupling nut,same principal.

Common newby mistake. I dropped my razor and the end of the blade has a small nick in it. How can I fix it?
