Thanks everyone, I need a strop so bad I cant use any of my razors now until I get one. All my edges are too dull.
Just got one off ebay, a dovo. Used once for $45 shipped. Its not 3 inches wide but for 45 bucks I will be happy to finally have a strop.
I have a Dovo (not sure if it's like yours) that is quite narrow and short, with a canvas side and a leather side. It's not bad, and is a good beginner's strop, but now I also have a Neil Miller English Bridle and linen that makes the Dovo look and feel like a toy. I actually still use the Dovo everyday apart from Sundays, when I shave in my room at my 'shaving stand' and sue the Miller strop; so I'm sort of keeping the Miller for special days.
My Dovo cost me around 100 AU, which actually surprised me at the time and still does. The Miller was of course more, but certainly still a great price given the quality and workmanship (it's hand made).
While the Dovo is certainly a poor comparison in my opinion and experience to the Miller, if I were to it again or give advice, I think this progression is a good one. BTW I had the Dovo for one year before I got the Miller, and in that year I DID nick the Dovo twice, but, interestingly, I nicked it towards the end of that year, i.e. when I should have known better, but when maybe I got sloppy and lazy...
