    Default My new custom strop...

Seeing I was going to make a Strop, I wanted something "industrial" style. A little steampunky looking. I like "old" things from the turn of the century so thats how I designed my new strop. First I wanted a nice silky feel to it. So I "lightly sanded" the leather with 220 then 320 grit and a sanding block to remove all the gloss. It really brought out that nice leather smell. The stropping area between the studs is 19 1/2". I think that is plenty seeing I tend to have a consistant 16" stropping stroke. With the "heavy duty" hardware I made you can really give this baby some tension, taking the belly out for a nice straight stropping surface. She's silky smooooooooth... Last pic is of strop cleaned and Fromm's conditioner applied which brought back that nice black color... Here's a few photos for the forum. Hope you like them.
