Horn>>>>>>>>>
Dark, or honey? And what is the consensus on double pins on the wedge.
I concur with Pixel..
Although the right piece of Honey Horn can be rather attractive too... :p
This is practically a machete. Will it be too big to be a good shaver?
Luis
Luis my friend,A blade can never be to big to be a great shaver:)

Horn, single pin at wedge.
I would do horn as a nod to history, after that, all bets are off. Nice piece of honey horn, or black/white horn, double pin, bone spacer.
Trace it out on a piece of paper and play with the shape.
I vote for horn too, especially something simple like black horn with led or stainless wedge and stacked washers
Rafal
That is an awesome razor!
Absolutely blonde horn!!
Something like this ... maybe you'll love it as I do mine!!

Smiling. Would love to see a demonstration.
Horn. Single pins. Lead wedge. Traditional shape. Mottled horn on the dark side with just enough lightness to them to make them translucent and show the mottled colour.
I just did an 8/8 and tried to do it in streaked black horn. The razor gods didn't let it happen. Went with natural horn and old fashion pin set up reused the lead. Anything else would be like putting a tutu on a bulldog. ;)
That is going to be a problem since I do not have the original wedge. I was thinking of a copper wedge or a gold plated wedge and dark almost black horn that I have left over..
That sounds nice. Got a fishing sinker ? Do you have the old washers and inner washers ?
I love the look of copper but would worry about it turning green.
No I got the blade as a blade only with no scales or any hardware. I did went over my usual $50 eBay budget, but blade's over 1"are so rare that I went for it. I did get the seller to accept a $40 less than what he asked for. Nothing that light buffing can't get rid of.
Nice going !
So I have done some light sanding and I did the rough cut of the scales (they are on the larger side to accommodate changes). And next to it there is an 8/8 John Shaw celebrated razor and a wade and butcher American razor that measures 7/8. This razor just dwarfs both of them to the point where the w&b looks like a 5/8-6/8.
The actual picture.

I made washers for mine with what you see here. I drill a 1/4 hole in a chunk of steel. Hardwood may work or even certain plastic.
put the flat washer in and smack it with a rounded punch.

I got the washers from Microfastener
You could also go with stacked washers.

All depends on the look you want and what you can do. Do you have pins already ? The ones you saw in mine are 3/32 brass. I used flat bill vice grips to hold them while I drilled out the washers. If you use 1/16 pins you won't need to do that.
Yes I have the pins and they are 1/16
Looking Good!
The reason that lead was used for the wedge/spacer was to help with the balance of the razor! As was previously posted a lead tire weight could be used to try to duplicate the original.
There are lots of posts on washers but I found these 2 methods the best. You could punch your own washers, turn them, or make a block to stamp them out of sheet. You could also buy bullseye collars from here >> The Imperial Shave Shaving Razor Quality. He sells them on e-bay too. You might ask for the cost of just 1 or 2 sets. I have seen them sold that way before.
i am going with stacked washers and i already have the pins and i just ordered a brass blank that is about 2.5mm and the best news for me at leat is that i just bought this sander for $50 from CL. the guy wanted $90 but my suave talk brought him down to $50. he advertised as almost new, but it is in fact new although the box is falling apart and he almost got me to buy a used craftsman grinder for $40.
CRAFTSMAN 6 IN. DISC SANDER, 4 X 36 IN. BELT LIKE NEW IN BOX
Here is an update the scales are about 50% done, and I would leave the polishing as is on the blade.
Here you go
Whats the finished thickness going to be,looking good.
Right now they are under 3mm so I think they will end up just over 2.6mm. That should be good right?
By the way this is the sander i am using
