Quick update,
Contacted Masecraft and sent a pic of the restore. Told Phil I needed a real blonde horn. Said he had some. Waiting now for delivery.

dont know if you all saw my posts about a cork drum sander, but the feedback didt totally deter me from giving it a go. So here is the setup:
Attachment 142536
A reversible drill with a cork mandrel on a 7" piece of a 1/8 drill bit. Double sticky back tape, and sp on that.
A crude mount to the table with a clamp, and another clamp to hold down the adjudtable speed trigger.
I tried it out first on a broken blade I had. Got such great results, I am going to put it to use on my Beckher Tonsorius, (Becker is a family name)
Attachment 142537 this is before.
And now after 1000, and 2000 grit and 30 minutes.

I really dig the results. The blade has that non-mirrored but freshly ground matte finish, which I could take to mirror finish if I wanted.
Also, the technique solves a problem with mechanical sanding, that being over sanding and over heating. The cork is held onto the bit only by being slipped on aftr drilling. Add too much pressure and the cork slips!
It is better than hand sanding because you can get all the grind marks in the same direction, and you dont get that soft look from rounding all the edges.
Yay to no more hand sanding!
Stealing that idea! Having problems with sharp hollow grinds:)

I will be finishing the sanding on the member blade this week, and next weekend I will make the scales.
I'm lost (it's pretty easy to get me lost). Are there two restorations going in? I saw one post with what appears to be a beautifully finished razor and then another post about more work being done next weekend.
