Lightbulb Interesting Pinning setup on an old Stubtail

Thought you guys might enjoy seeing this

I just started working on a very old Stubtail and found a rather unique pinning setup.

They used a Tube through the razor and scales, then pinned that with a very thin internal pin and lock washers on the outside..
The razor tightens by the washers pressing the scales like normal but the razor rotates on the tube, the only advantage/disadvantage I can see is that a bent pin like we see here would not effect the way the razor pivots or allow the scales to shift as the pin bends... It also would not allow for adjustment for a slightly off center tang/razor..

Anyway first time I found it done this way so I thought you all might enjoy it..

Might help keep from cracking the scales when pinning too ?
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Noooooooo lol that I do not believe one bit considering, 3 out of the 4 pins had cracks under them I would not be making that assumption... Of course the razor was made somewhere around 150-200 years ago it is hard to tell...

G , does the tube look like it is original to the razor or a later addition ? Any maker's mark on the tang ? I'm wondering if it was original or added, maybe even added way back ?

It is IMO Original to the razor and the scales, and was used at the wedge and the pivot end, the razor is stamped "Superior Temper" I will have pics up later of the Custom Restore...
