Irish point restoration project. Ideas welcomed.

This is my personal best find,, I hope. Still enroute but its what I was looking for.
An 1840s era Bell Irish point from Belfast.
Im worried about that rust along the edge, but will see if its more surface than cancerous..
Regardless, I'm going to have some fun designing some Irish scales for her and seeing how she cleans up.
Any tips on what you'd do if you were me, always a good read from the wise metal smiths on here..
