I had metal slivers in my eyes quite a few times and I was wearing safety glasses. I swear I get more stuff in my eyes when I wear them, but I always try to keep them on. One of the times it stayed in there for almost a month. Didn't hurt while it was in there, but some how it worked itself lose and on the way out it hurt bad.
3 years ago when I got a safety lecture concerning the rules on the construciton site where our new plant was built, we got shown a picture of a helmet with a screwdriver punched through, right at the top. The screwdriver had fallen from a scaffold, right over some guy who walked by. Without the hardhat, the screwdriver would have punched right through his skull.
Using a dremel making one piece scales and cutting the slot with a cutting disc, and it slipped and nicked the thumb on the tip leaving a black cut mark on the end. The dumbest part was I started to cut the scales again in the same spot and did it again leaving a deeper cut, I don't know how I am going to get the black mark out of my thumb now.
