I was skeptical at first, but now...
I really understand why some people rave about finishing wood in CA (super glue, crazy glue, cyanoacrylate).
I got (very bloody) bored yesterday, and decided to give the CA a go on a rubish half of a razor coffin. Turned out quite nicely after a few hours of work.
I then got bold and grabbed my 5/8 Dovo that had dark red/black wood scales.
Well I gotta say... despite having a buildup around the pins (I know I should have removed them) the scales now look to be either highly polished ebony or well crafted micarta/plastic with the heft and feel of wood.
I was surprised at how easy it was to get an excellent finish on the wood scales with the ammount of effort put in. :y
A carefull sanding with 1200grit followed by a session with metal polish had them at a nice mirror finish. They would also look very nice with a carefull satin finish from a higher grit.
I'll be back later with some before/after shots (Im at work and cannot access the pics from here)
