Thread: Would you take a few minutes and break out your tape measure?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if yinz could all do me a favor. I'm working on a project and was looking to get a few average measurements from the members collection. Don't worry, I'll post build pics after its done .

I'm looking for the following:

1. Longest razor you have from tip of the tang to the tip of the scale beyond the non pivot pin. in cm
2. Average of the above measurement of a few razors in your collection in cm
3. On average how "tall" your razors are closed. From the spine to the bottom of the scales, in cm

Based on your post headline I thought this was a PSA about not having unprotected honing sessions.

Always use tape! you dont know where thats been!!!

My longest user is 6.8 inches long closed about ~27cm
It is an early 20th century English round point working man's razor. A very long tang accounts for the length.
Most 68ths are about 24cm and 5/8ths are usually less but not by much. My shortest is 20cm. and not a user.

Thanks Richard appreciate the measurements and information!

Average length of mast would be about 6.5" 165mm
Longest Monkey tail is about 7.5" 190mm
shortest is 5.5" 140mm
heights range from 3/4" 19mm to 1 1/2" 38mm
Thickness to outside of pins would be 1/2" 12mm - 5/8" 16mm

Edit my BB Spanish monkey is 8" 200mm overall
