Thanks guys.
My excuse for not doing so much sanding labor in the future is that it gives me more opportunity to drop it.
I think I'll recruit pups and wolfpack to help me do the crocus finish. But yeah on to the scales...

Rough sanded the scales today, probably sometime this week :)
Got the scales cleaned up. Used thin CA to wick down into the hairlines, sanded and used some Flitz. Who knew all that beauty was still under there!

I have a set of scales like that on a W&B that I need to get started on. Nice to know how good they COULD look. Keep up the good work.
Those scales come up a treat should great all back together
Well here's a workbench shot. I need to get the ends of the scales equal and probably polish up the collars and pins. But on second thought I just want to shave with it already!! It centers fairly well and the pins are nice and tight. I'll take it :)
Time to get it on the hones. I'll try to take some better pics when I get it honed and cleaned up. Thanks for looking and all the help!

I'm lovin' it. Are those nickel washers with brass pins?
Could be lead
I figured that you had managed to salvage the washers/collars, was that the look you were going for or just what you had on hand. Lead would have been to soft for use in that capacity and besides had they been, they would have been destroyed in the removal process.
Yeah the goal was to reuse everything if I could. New scales and hardware would look spiffy but I'm happy it all was salvageable. I think it gives a nice age to it. However I could to a better job at cleaning the hardware up :)
Forgot to post a pick of the sleeve I put in...
