Default Puma 91 High Class. Work in progress.

    Hi.
Some time ago i found this very early Puma razor:

Unfortunately the scales are damaged and i couldn't find a way to repair them. However ...

Now i only have to clean the blade (well, i have cleaned it a bit already) and try to save the etching.

I like what you did with the scales. Looks like you need to trim the wedge a bit.

You will probably lose most of the etch on the blade. Post a pic here of the final product when you are done.
May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

You can use 0000 steel wool and get the black off and leave the pit without removing any more metal. Sometimes it's nice to get the black off but not all the steel.

Thanks. Felt cone on a dremel is another idea. We'll see how it goes today

Be careful with the felt bob you can easily wipe an etch. If using a Dremel a 15 dollar Flex shaft and variable speed will greatly increase your control for detail work.

Geezer posted a good thread in the workshop here, on using film to, save and enhance the etch.

Nice work on the scales… Should be a shaver.

Those look better than the original IMO

Ok, i have finished cleaning the blade. I have managed to save the etching. Unfortunately some shallow pitting left, mostly on etched side. I just glued in the wedge and i will peen that razor tomorrow.

Very nice. I don't know how you can't be satisfied with it because it looks alot better. The scales alone were a nice touch.
