I had to see what hammer you were talking about, and they don't seem to have good reviews.

I dunno? I have a Chinese copy and it is nice. I figured the real-deal Starret would be great?
They have been making them for a half-century at least, I am told.
I appreciate the quality of starrett tools as well. Best vernier I ever used, course I could see without glasses back then. ;)
I'm basing my assumption off of the one review on amazon. They do appear to make good quality stuff. The hammer on amazon is like $80+. Seems steep, and the guy who reviewed claims it's nearly identical to a HF one that costs $7. I've seen a couple hammers show up in this thread that look like they are top quality.
Just got caught up too... WOW! Now that is a gift! Now I feel like my gift back was measly.. Bill sure did set the bar high! :)
Though I understand why Bill sent such gifts back. Those anvils do take some serious time to make, and as said before, Mike took some very praiseworthy initiative in making those and giving them away with no concern for return.. it speaks volumes of his good character.
When he first said that he would send it, the thread was young and I hadn't been on SRP long. My poor experience with people made me think "yeah right, he won't send it, why would he?" "How am i going to finish it? ugh." ... ... ...
I was set aback when I received it. Shining and professional quality!
Made me rethink some things.
Thanks . If its a 5/8ths I wont be happy. Also if the scales are not genuine then I think I over paid for it, slightly.
Considering some of the bargains I've bought , then everything evens out.
It looks massive in the picture :gaah: ;)
[QUOTE=outback;1555637]Looks to be a 6/8" half hollow grind , from what I see.
As for the scales.... I agree with Sharptonn. But if you don't like them, I'll be glad to get rid of them for ya. [emoji5] I know how to deal with them. [emoji57]
