Thanks for the walkthrough.
I think I'll grab my verniers and have a closer look at an old Boker I have. Nice worked back spine, black ornate scales and an awful frown.
At least I'll know if it'll work or not... It was originally a 5/8, so there's not that much to work with, but eyeballing it isn't getting me anywhere. Might as well just measure it properly, put in the layout lines and see if it's going to work or not.

An excellent pictorial of the reshaping of the blade and superb work.
Thanks for sharing
Great job with all the pictures and info. Was thinking about how breadknifeing my W&B would ruin the smiling edge. Now I know another method.
Excellent tut Marty :<0)
Looks like we will have some flying from Canada next meet :nj
A badly worn Greaves has been wearing ME out. I like this solution to beating scars into stars. Thanks, Marty.
Excellent a great step by step guide.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together and for sharing the process.
What a great tutorial!
One of the great things about this forum is that sometimes it makes us old guys feel like a kid in school.

Over a year later and still helping people. Thanks for taking the time to make this thread.
And... just to add.... That Boker I mentioned above is an excellent shaver today... yes, I broke one of the scales tightening the pin too much, but "Bekk" fixed it up for me using a bit of brass on the inside of the scales and some epoxy I think.
Glad to see this thread pop back up.... It keeps on giving.
