My first inlay transfer!
I seen someone do an inlay transfer and it actually made me buy a busted up razor on eBay just to give it a go hahaha... So lately I have been playing around with a lot of acrylics and have been loving them plus I figured the transparent look with the inlays will make it pop.
I outlined the scales removed the inlays with acetone and got to work... I actually used my wife's nail polish remover and it worked just fine lol. Once I got them off I set off in making the replicas with transparent blue acrylic, perfect match!
I dry fitted the inlay and seen it was going to fit fine so I moved on to polishing the inlay (in retrospect I could have easily done with after glueing but I thought I would minimize compromising the glue)
I actually buffed and polished with a dremel, I have some felt heads added my greaseless compound to it and went to work 😂😂😂 surprisingly it worked just fine and did the some with he polishing compounds.
Now for the tricky part, my heart was pumping because I didn't want the glue to set wrong and me look like a fool coming back with a piece that Picasso put together. So I actually put one of my 1/16 screws for my mock fittings into the scales, then applied glue to the backside as lightly as possible flipped her over, carefully put it down on the screw and gently placed it on the scales 😰😰😰
somehow with the grace of god I did this 3 more times and was successful! I hand sanded all the excess glue off and polished her up and brings me here hahaha...
enjoy! Tips and criticism is always welcome!
Thanks,
Fonz
