W&B FBU kinda
Bought this blade a while ago and restored it.
However at the last moment I found a crack near the toe end. I then learnt many lessons as I butchered the blade in removing that crack.
So I sent it off the Max for a re grind. I then wrapped the blade up and put it away as it was slightly heart breaking to go from an 8/8ths to a whatever it is now
Recently though I made scales for another 8/8ths and shaved a fraction too much from the underside of the scales. OK I thought , these scales will fit that FBU I have.
I dug it out and fitted the scales . Its not perfect but they work.
The scales are some kind of cocobolo if memory serves , the wedge is the same but brass lined, bulls eye collars, nickel pins, brass internal washers.
It was really tricky to hone up , I had to tape the shoulder as to not keep hitting it on the hone.
One side of the blade did not like the rolling x stroke.
The whole process was difficult.
In the end I used rolling X's, circles, normal X's but the main stroke was just back n forth, as if hand sanding something , so it was a hone/strop kind of stroke .
I did this in three parts toe, middle and heel.
All on my Jnat.
It shaves really nice
Pics below , excuse the background .
