It's crooked as hell but it has a shaving edge on it now, after some squabbling I might add from the unwilling subject. I'm glad to see there are other specimens like mine in existence. Indeed, mine has no markings of a preferred providence I'm sorry to say. Is it comfortable for me to presume they were born in Asia, Pakistan??
I have seen several razors that were plated and I have a few in my collection. I'm not sure if it was done to help with corrosion prevention or increase the brightness of the blade without all the polishing. Clauss, Genco/Geneva are the 3 most common US manufactures I have found. Once the corrosion begins the finish starts to blister and lift. My guess is it fell out of favor in just a few years. I have never encountered a Sheffield blade that was plated but don't doubt they are out there.
