Thread: Weak machine or something wrong with what I do?

Hey folks,

Got some questions about my buffing machine. I bought it from a guy as condition "used". What I think is the machine works well, it's a 370W. But there is something annoying when I use it with greaseless comp.

I put wheels to use it with these compounds and unique for each grit. It turns as well, I put than the compound on wheel annoying extra ordinary what I do for finishing polish pastes.

Here's the thing, once the greaseless comp. is hot enough to fond and the wheels start to take it on. It demands more power. I can't just hold the greaseless pastes because it makes the wheels stop. I must to put it on every 2 or 5 seconds (i mean with breaks of 2 or 5) seconds untill the wheel has completely the posts on it.

This is very annoying. I spend almost 45 minutes to prepare my wheels ready to start.

Do you thing it comes from my buffing machine which has 370W of power or there's something I do wrong?

As I wrote a little wrong there might be something not clear. Please ask it me I'll try to explain better

Is your machine a buffing machine or actually a grinder? A picture might help. It almost sounds like the motor is weak. As in wore out.
If you can't put any pressure on the wheel without it slowing down then my guess is its tired.

My thought is along different lines. Some machines are built lighter for carrying small wheels. The little ones often have tapered spindles. If your machine is rate for 3" wheels and you are running 4" it could be part of the problem. At 370 watts and 220v puts you machine at less than two amps. That is a pretty small motor.

i use it with 6" wheels. when i put a blade it's ok. even when i put pastes, it rolls but only when the pastes get hot and fond on the wheels, it becomes slow then stop. i have to move wheels with my hand for it continues to roll.

by the way it's a grinder which i transformed it for polish.

Does it run better after the motor has warmed up Or has been running for awhile? Ty

How hard is the tube of greaseless? It should be soft, about like an uncooked sausage or tube of Liverwurst.

You must keep it sealed and with some moisture in an airtight plastic bag and or container to stay soft and moist. Or it will not readily sick to the wheel, then you must let it dry before using.

It will get rock hard if left open. It can be re-hydrated by adding water, tablespoon in the bag and a folded paper towel soaked in water, may take a day or two.
