Waste of time?
What do you think? Worth the trouble? I don't have it in hand yet and don't even know the grind. Hoping it is a quarter or half hollow because there looks like quite a bit of pitting.

I would first see if it will hold an edge. That chip worries me.
If the metal is OK then fix it up.

Check it over with a magnifier, especially the edge. I bet it is salvageable.

Just to possibly make things easier I would inclined to breadknife then set a bevel.

Pretty solid advice see about an edge then proceed. No worries leaving some character too :)

Yeah...looking forward to getting it in. Looks like someone put some heavy grit to it. That weird toe grind worries me as well. Might have to make it a full hollow to fix that spine :thinking: Going to do the hornoxy method to fix the scales. Pretty excited about getting this 130 year old girl back to life and cutting scruff. Maybe I will posts pics along the way to show the progression.
