I'm new to straights but while out hunting for shaving items and saw this 9/8 Joseph Elliot and had to pick it up. Scales are still whole but starting to fail. I'm looking for ideas and resources for restoration. I was thinking about plain black or possibly striped horn scales. I have already reached out to Maggard as I hear they do great restorstion work but I'm looking for other options as well.

I'm not exactly swiming in cash right now so this may have to wait a while but it's definitely something I want to have back in shave ready condition. Other than the scales I want the chip on the toe cleaned up and it honed. Unsure about how much I want to clean up the blade, obviously I want the rust stopped but may try to keep the patina, Im not sure yet.

Thanks for looking
Steve
