Collaborative razor

Many razors are made today by the single craftsman in his shop. Only by him. I see many times that i like one aspect of a finished product but not all.

Has anyone thought about getting a collaborative together and using the best of everyone to make a product?

2 to 10 people to make a razor. Sort of a factory that can be spread around.

I may be good at making pattern welded steel but I can't grind, make scales or hone worth a darn for example.

Would this work?

Just a thought on a Saturday night.

I have thought about that actually. More along the lines of buying a premade blade by someone like Bruno and putting the scales on it myself. I do like making boxes too so there are aspects of it that I can contribute to and there is a lot of black sand where I live, but I have no idea how it goes from black sand to a billet.

you make great scales and bruno makes great blades.

If we could get together craftsmen whose skills compliment each other the final product would be amazing.

Collaborative projects can be awesome.
A three man build, between the three aforementioned craftsmen sounds cool, wanna see a pic please.
I think Bruno used to offer blade only options, not sure if he does anymore.
Personally, I would love to design and build a set of skins to compliment one of his Damascus blades, in a swooping Irish point design, with maybe a monkey-esk tail..in a box made by Shaun with a honing added in along the way. Could be the razor that circles the globe, just between us regulars..

Blade Vic
Scales Geezer made them from aircraft aluminum
Randydance gave me the acrylic for the wedge
I pounded it together

It is then a foursome!

If memory serves, two members here collaborated on scales for Dubl Duck razors that actually looked like ducks (or something along those lines). They were really nice whoever made them.

I believe there were some duck scale colaborarions between chevhead and 10pups.
I wish I could get to a large Tandy store and look at some exotic leathers and patterns for box covering and some nice new hardwoods from a big lumber store.
I would love to be involved in collaborations so any other potential co collaborators take note.

A few days ago I saw a damascus koraat scaled by doc226. Very nice.

well this February there is going to be a razor that will be a collaboration of a sorts, only a couple of guys know this but its going to be announced soon, before Charlies meet up,, its going to be something cool Tc
