    Default How thick do you make your wooden scales?

    I want to make some wooden scales. I'm using some existing scales as a pattern How thick should I cut the wood?

    I cut my wood ever to 7 mm. After the sandign they have between 5-6 mm.
    But many scales I have been seen her, are thiner. I like mines more massive.

    I start @ 4mm and sand to 3mm

    Generally 1/8 inch or 3.175 mm finished thickness.

    I start off with 1/8" blanks and round them off a bit, but the mid-scale thickness stays about the same.

    1/8ts, or 3 mm... Don't take too much off this thickness, though...
