Dont feel lonely. The first time Outback said he used one, i asked the wife what it was. Then she showed me a few when we were out shopping. They are kinda plain and some have lots of holes. Id like to find one with just a few holes and colored. I keep my eyes open for one. I can see sticking the tail of the razor in the hole, and with the weight of it, it would work well. And display the drying razor too.
I got thinking about this & I just got a paraffin bath to help with the trigger finger I have. I got it thru the VA so I don't know how much it cost. If you were going to store a razor for a while or ship one I think a dip in a paraffin bath after drying the razor well with a hair dryer on a similar device. To remove the paraffin just peal it off. If it is to hard warm it with a heat source & it will come right off. Haven't tried this yet. I will try it after I get home from getting shots in my back today. NOT FUN, but I have to jump threw the hoops before they do the surgery at the VA.

My new word for the day is Devil's Spit. From Glen's article, I interpret that it becomes Devil's Spit when it turns black. Is that correct? If so, it looks to me like most of what is on the pic below is Devil's spit

That is my take too Pete. Black rust on carbon steel.
I always figured the Devil Spit is the black left IN the steel after you remove the rust. Rust comes off. Rust can leave behind pitting but Devil Spit might not until you start trying to polish it out. It might come out or it might leave deep pitting under the surface.

I thought devils spit was scattered pitting , black or not.
It's a great phrase.
That's why it's best to use an oil that is Water Displacing as well.Quote:
