I bought a shave ready razor from a stranger so would like to sanitize it to be on the safe side.

    What do you use?

I was thinking Barbacide but I don’t want to hurt or mark the blade and I would like to clean at least the entire blade including pin and tang if not the whole thing, scales and all.

The bit of the blade between the scales looks like it might have old blood

Barbicide will not hurt the blade.
Mix to the directions and let soak 10 minutes

I go with 20 minutes in rubbing alcohol. It is safe on metal and plastic, although it will stop the oils from bone, horn and ivory, I still use it on them. Oil is easy to replace.

Looks like rust, To me. I'd clean the whole razor, then disinfect. Gotta git the gunk outta the scales n tang, a Q-tip or pipe cleaner works great

If I soak the entire razor in it, will it rust anywhere.

I've seen here on the forum sometime in the past that dental floss was good for cleaning the pivot pin.........

No it won’t after soaking rinse well in hot water, then dry then apply your fav lube. I personally don’t lube a razor ever unless it’s put up for long term a year or more. And barbicide takes care of most anything. Or to be honest just rinsing it with hot water will kill most anything you can get off a razor

The dental floss gets out a lot of gunk. But unless your blade/pin is very loose you wont get the floss to the pin. Soak, spray, floss. Then dry well.

Or take it apart and do it right.
