Wow, Joseph-Those are all so distinctive. Love that Wosty on top, and the 2nd one is interesting-never seen one quite like it. I look forward to seeing the finished products-how do you plan to scale them?
Hi Aaron,
The top Wotsy came with broken MOP scales. MOP is the most beautiful material but yet it is a ridiculous idea for scales, unless in pieces. I don't know what to do at the moment. The tang is super thick also. I will scale it but it has to be something very special. I never imagined it would clean up like this because of the state it was in.
The second blade i gave a satin finish, you can see in the Stub Tailed Shavers thread. Paine & Simpson / London. The scales are thin horn which i soaked in neatsfoot and then heated n pressed flat. Today i filled the pin holes with Epoxy / Dye / Burnt Match Heads (outback). Tomorrow i will consider the next step . Im leaning toward not dyeing them to keep that old look.
The third is a Weston & Sons, stupid big, its been lying around for ages, no plans for that.
The W&B is a massive rattler that has lost a centimeter off the toe end.. I bought it thinking it was full size :/
I dunno what to do with it at the moment.
The last one is a H Hobson. The scales are in Silver Nitrate solution but ive hit obstacles so it might take a few weeks before they are black. They are Bone that i had to sanded down..

I spent all day today restoring four more... I might show them tomorrow.
Cheers
Joseph
They all look great
That answers my question of the W&B. Wow, a FBU rattler.
And that Wosty.... OH my !!
Is that Wosty a Rockingham forge Wosty? Its pretty as can be.
It says washington works..
Half hollow i'd say.extremely thick tang.

Nice work. That first group has some really nice blades in it.
Restoring/Customising razors today. I took photos of a few.. Making lined wedges for them all..
There is a W&B their , it has a nice shape and a long blade. That one is getting the opal green Thai horn.
The W&B on it own is getting the odd scales you may have seen in another thread.
The Hobson gets Ox horn & Joseph Rodger is the lucky winner of Cocobolo ..
