Thread: Dubl Duck Double

I had two Duble Duck with broken scales. The first one, the Goldedge, has now a makassar scale and the second one, the Satinedge, scales from swiss peartree.

Very nice. Was it hard to get bolsters off and refit them to the new scales?

Easier then I thought. First I used the original scale to copy the form. Then I used a heating pistol to get the brass inlays. This destroy the original plastic scales, but the inlay keep safe.

To make them fit, i used my little ball peen hammer with very soft hits. They are fixed with super glue gel.

Very nice job preserving the bolsters! I've ordered some macassar ebony. Did you use any backing for it? How is it to work with?

@Kyle76: No I dont us a backing. The work with this wood is fine. It is very hard and good to polish. I like it realy very much. A little linseedoil is all you need. This give the wood a deep black color.

Nice Clean work !!! It's good to see someone who is not afraid to try something, and make it work for them..
