    Default Walnut is nice

This is my favorite restoration to date. The blade is a really nice 13/16 Sheffield steel number stamped "Venture, Slater Brothers." The blade face reads "Hamburg Ring." (Does anyone know what this means? I've seen it on a number of brands...) I sanded it to a 400-grit finish, and there's only the slightest hint of staining now in a couple of spots.

The scales are walnut, sanded to 2000-grit and finished with tung oil. The pins are brass. The spacer is the original spacer--I think it's pewter.

I really liked the way this wood came out. I got some thinner stock at a local hobby store--it seems like it might be slightly less than 1/8" thick. They give the razor a nice slim profile. This one will be going up in the BST forum soon.

    P.S. Recognize the blade, David?
