First Attempt at Razor Restore

Hi there,
I recently came to own a Wade and Butcher "The Celebrated" straight razor. As the pics will show, the blade was chipped and rusty and the original bone scales were rotten. I have limited shop supplies so instead of making new scales I decided to "transplant" some from a good razor.
Since the W+B is a hefty piece of metal, I thought I'd keep with this theme and try to find metal scales. I was able to find a Sweeney Todd straight razor from ebay with stainless steel scales. The price was right so i bought it and went to work.
Things I did:
A)Unpinned both razors
B)Sanding and breadknifing razor with 400grt, 600grt, 1000grt, 1500grt and 2000 grt sandpaper (wet sanding)
C)Buffed razor using dremel buffing wheel and then a polishing compound (Mothers Billet Polish)
D)Bought 3/32 brass rod and brass washers at a hobby shop
E)Peened together
Fortunately the Sweeney Todd razor was big too and the blade thicknesses were almost identical. I still have yet to sharpen the razor and am debating on giving the blade another polishing pass. All in all it was a pretty good experience and I learned quite a bit.

I have looked at those scales on Ebay before and wondered what they would look like on a real razor. I think you did a good job at getting a set of scales for that WB. I like the way the blade looks not too shiny not to dull, it is just about right in my book.

(Not the W&B, the Sweeney one is the junker I'm referring to... Just to clarify

Thanks for the comments. Indeed that Sweeney Todd blade was a junker. What's funny is they sold it as "shave ready" and although it cut hair from my arm, the blade was sharpened to a terrible wire edge.
