    Default Two Razors finally Done!!!!

I have been working on these for awhile, along with some of the other projects, These two took a little longer because of the scales...

The first one pictured here is a Robson Shur-edge "The Razor That Fits Your Face"..... This one has a long history, I bought one from E-bay, which was the one and only time I have ever been taken bad on there.. The razor came, and I don't know who's face it was supposed to fit, but the blade had been shortened to about 1 1/2 inches so it wasn't mine... One of our SRP members heard what had happend and offered to send me a blade free of charge, that he had sitting around, not being used, (Thank you Syslight "Jim") Well I had it sitting around here forever, because I could not even get into my shop, because of all the snow this winter, until now... I put the 11/16 blade into some Bocote' scales and finished them with 10 coats of wipe on poly...I also used some of the Micro-fastenners hardware with a brass wedge....

The second razor was the 6/8 + Fredrick Reynolds etched barbers notch, that I used for the "Tumbler Experiment".... I deciced that I would use Pauduk for the scales and used the same finish and hardware as the Robson... (This one will be in B/S/T as soon as I hone it and test shave with it)

I like the double pins there! That's a nice touch.

Default OCD is as bad as Rad

This is how bad it is, after posting those pics, I noticed that on the Bacote' scales, the screw heads were not aligned the same, so I had to go out to the shop and get those re-aligned correctly.......
Now ya know what I mean when I say I'm just a little compulsive.......

How do you like working with the screws vs the standard pin? I am impressed with the look but I just worry that the screws and bolt methods will leave areas for water to gather. Have you noticed anything like this?

So far so good, but like you I worry about new ideas, (I'm really not sure who actually came up with this idea, and how long ago it started) the peened pins have a 200 + year history and we know they work... They also have their problems ie: bent pins... but even then, they still hold... I sold the Freddy this morning and put a guarantee with the razor, that if these Micro-fastener sets happen to not work like we are all hoping they will, that I would replace them with tried and true brass pins and washers no charge....
    Only time will tell!!!!
