    Default Pipe-Razor with macassar/maple plywood

A little Wostehholm Pipe-Razor with a special macassar/maple plywood, that a friend of mine, made. The wedge is from black vulcanfibre and tin in a similar zebra-lock like the scales.

I love the look. Are the scales sealed from water?
    I'm envious

Yes they are. They are oiled with linseed-oil. If you dont let them lie in water, there no will be problems.

That was some really nice scales, 6(?) layers of wood in each scale gives a stunning look. Truly amazing!

How you mean this? The scale making here is not different, to the way all guys here do it. Cutting the scales with a electr. scroll saw, sanding, drilling. Nothing spectacullar.
How this special plywood was made - I dont know. This friend who made it, normaly build loudspeakers. He used veneer from his work, to made this plywood. Dont know how this process exactly work, but he told me, its a little tricky. Perhaps I could get more in the future. This piece here was the prototype.

I thought about doing something similar with some of the left over cuttings from my scales. A homemade exotic wood laminate but with the layers the opposite way so they show from the side of the scales. Probably more work than I want to do but I thought it may look different.
