Another new idea, but I need some help....
I just got back from a business trip and found a new product that I think might help in our restoration endevours- it's a liquid rust remover which is non damaging to the steel and most non ferrous materials. I spoke in depth with the chemical engineer who developed it and the head of sales for the company regarding our potential use and their expansion in marketing applications.
We they have tested and found it is safe on Bake-a-lite and should be safe on other scale materials, but both he and I are interested in some first hand testing, which they are not able to conduct as easily. If things work out well I will likely become a mini distributor for the product.
Here's where I need some help- I need some sample scales or scale pieces to test in the solution. I'm looking for some Ivory (real), Bakelite, Celuloid, Bone, Horn, CA Finished wood, any other scale materials I have missed, etc to test, but obviously not looking for good scales, rather does anyone have some broken scales, unusable pieces of scales, stuff that would be heading to the trash bin, they would be willing to sell me to help in my testing?
(I do have a few sets of scales but they are still attached to razors for future restorations and I'd like to expedite the testing without having to begin any restorations to do so.)
