I'm Such a !%$#@^%#^&%$%&**%(

I totally destroyed my Wade & Butcher. F**K! Anyone want to take a wild guess how? It's happened a lot because there are warnings all over the place. Damn. The blade had a small dark spot on it, and it was almost gone when I slipped and the damn collar of my Dremel hit the cutting edge. Three large, triangular shards went flying into oblivion. That was my first and nicest razor, the one I was going to hang onto. I'm lucky the shards didn't hit me. I can't find them either.

Man, my wood just came in the mail, I was all ready to cut out the new scales tomorrow morning.

I know everyone wants to see pics; but, I too depressed to take any. There's nothing salvageable; one of the shards is less than 1" from the shoulder, and goes all the way up into the curve of the hollow-grind.

I did just find one of the shards. It was weird, the blade was singing as the buffing wheel gently touched it, and all of the sudden, PANG!:mad:

I'd like to say I've learned a lesson, but there really wasn't a lesson to learn, other than, don't slip!

Oh well, I guess. I still need to make several sets of scales, just one less now.:(

Man. That truly sucks. I just about fried a razor trying to polish some of the nasty off of it once. It doesn't take much. I had read a bunch of warnings about the rotation of the polishing wheel relative to the edge.

Bummer. I know it won't help but it's probably happened to most of us.
At this point let me remind you to be careful if you use 6" and above buffing wheels. I nearly lost a W&B to one but you could lose more if one hits you in mid flight.

I found another shard. One more is lingering around, waiting to stab me in the foot at night.

Bummer on losing the razor. I've cracked and busted my share of scales when I started out, but never a blade yet. I'm sure it will happen though. These are pretty delicate things these razors.

I know it's easy for me to say, but if you haven't already, try to just let it go. After all, even if it was really cool, it's just a thing. You'll feel more free once you kiss it goodbye. I'm not trying to poke fun, seriously.

Thanks for the words of support. I know it's just a thing, but it was doing fine for 100+ years until I got a hold of it. There's nothing that can be done for it, though, so I'm moving on.

Sorry to hear that you lost the blade. Guess it just was not meant to be...

Bad joss, man. W & B's are kinda special to me, too. Sorry for your loss.

Tell you what... PM me your address and I will send you an "INVINCIBLE" W&B. It is not quite a Full Hollow grind (little stiffer), round point and no scales. The blade is in really good shape, moderate spine wear, no pitting or rust. Yours if you want it. I know how it is to mess a project up.

Wow, sorry to hear. I'm sure it's one mistake that you will not forget though.
