Default Wade & Butcher The Celebrated Fine India Steel Razor

I have long been on the prowl for a 'nice' Wade & Butcher.

I finally won one on ebay that I think will clean up nicely.

I have yet to receive it but am excited about the aquisition and just thought I would share.

Wade & Butcher's; The Celebrated Fine India Steel Razor

Looks like it has some rust and other edge issues, but I think it will do fine once restored.

Does anybody have any information as to the age a razor with these markings?

The item has been removed apparently! You will have to post pictures when you receive the razor!

I love the elaborate fix up job on the scales!

    Smile W&B India Steel

I had one like it. That razor took so sharp that it just slid silently over the skin filling the lather with cleanly cut whiskers. I got careless in a hurry and cut myself. Bad. I sold out. I have grieved over doing that for over 3 years. Keep it and be careful. A super shaver. Leave the scales alone- they have character and maturity. Good catch for Christmas Time, thanks for sharing, Robert

I think I agree, not seeing it in person, on keeping the scales. Looks like there's some history there. Someone obviously cared for that razor enough, at some point, to go to all that trouble. That type of history shouldn't be quickly or carelessly discarded.

I have restored a couple of those, they really do take a fine edge, and I would venture to say a smoother silky feel to the edge...
The cleanup is always fairly tuff, must be that hard as heck W&B steel....
