My Most Recent Restoration With Help

THis is a 6/8 tapered to 11/16 Wade and Butcher square point. THe scales are Zebrawood and the spacer is brass. All credit for the scales goes to FloppyShoes who made them and rpovided all the brass hardware. All I had to do was ad a few coats of Minwax Polyurethane and a little sanding. I have it listed, but I really want to hear comments and suggestions. By the way, I honed it with the 100/200 stroks with a Norton 4K/8K. I would also like to know any suggestions on a relatively inexpensive finishing hone to use after tha Norton. THis razor finished great with the Norton, and gives a smooth shave that lasts (me at least) a full two days. I hate to loose it but this economy? I am also going to put up another restoration tomorrow, but Im afraid its not Sheffield.

Nice job. For a moderately priced finishing hone I guess the Chinese 12K would have to be your best bet. I got my 8X2 here. Zib has slurry stones for sale in the classifieds here .

I bought one but haven't gotten around to using it yet. Here is a thread on it if you want to see the opinions of some who have used them.

Just to clarify, I provided Trey with a scale blank (profile cut and drilled). The shaping, pinning and finishing was entirely his own endevour.

Also +1 on the Chinese 12k. They are amazing for the price. I use mine in between the 8k and either japanese natural or fine pastes.

Another vote here for the China12K tho I do like a coticule between the 8K & 12 K stage. Sometimes the coticule is enough.

Well guys, I got this one from Trey and I gave it a test shave today... I have to say that this gave me one of the closest shaves I have ever had BBS! Absolutely effortless... felt like I was wiping the lather off with a stick of butter. I'll post more comments about the specifics of this razor later... just wanted to say good job Trey
