I bought some stuff and the seller threw in a damaged razor as a bonus. I didn't think much of it until I looked at the razor and noticed how nice it was, despite the damage. It's a 7/8" Hollow Ground Joseph Elliot with a round tip and barber notch that has never been honed. The blade and scales are in excellent condition except for the damage, which consists of some pretty bad chipping on the edge side of the blade.

I'm wondering if it is at all possible to grind down the edge to make the razor usable. The largest chip is about 1/8" (I know, that is huge) but if the edge was ground down, the razor would still measure to about 6/8" minus what is required for honing.

Anyone have a suggestion here? The razor is very nice except for the chipping so if it isn't worth my time, I might keep it as a display piece since it was never honed. I've done some hand sanding restoration, but never anything damaged this badly. Thanks for any help.
