    Default Emory Cloth

I just came across some emory cloth in my basement. It's 3M, has "METAL" written on the packaging, and is assorted in course, medium, and fine.

Is this safe to use, and what do the grits correspond to?

Emery cloth is generally used in paint and body work. Coarse, Medium and Fine probably refer to 320-600-1000 for 3M, but generally there are other numbers and ratings printed on the back that give you a better ideal.

They can be used in razor restoration, but you'll probably need other grits below and certainly above what you have.

hmm. They seemed much lower to me. Just judging by feel, I'd say the "fine" was somewhere around the same as my 320, maybe like 300.

I'll try it out tomorrow. I kind of figured they'd be OK to use, but I just like to get confirmation here.

    Thanks Dan.
