Thanks all. I am working with Bocote, and Cocobolo. I found it here.. . . Woodworking Plans & Tools | Fine Woodworking Project & Supplies at Woodcraft. Very nice folks, and they happen to be just around the corner. They have various woods ready cut in 1/8" x 3" x 24". The razors are both 7/8 Friodurs. They honed quite easily, and hold a wicked edge.
I cant hold a candle to some of the artisans here but I promise pictures of the final product.
I am really enjoying this. My RAD has kicked into overdrive!

Good luck! How many layers of tape did you have to put on the scallop back to get it to hold the edge? Look forward to seeing them!

I use no tape at all!. This is my second Friodur and both have honed well with no tape. 25 laps on my Norton 8k, followed by a good stropping (pasted black). For a keener edge 10 strops on linen pasted with .5 micron diamond paste. (.25 is way too harsh!) Originally Posted by ben.mid
