Did I waste my time?

So, I did what I could for that poor little world's fair razor...which wasn't much. I might actually have made things worse.

The seller had painted the scales brown--but he had used some odd model paint or something, that started rubbing off when I was just polishing the blade with a PAPER TOWEL, so it was pretty worthless. Then, as described before, I "accidentally" discovered that the scales were actually bone (and, because of my stupidity, broken) so I decided to clean them up and see what there was. I cleaned them up, and broke the OTHER scale in unpinning, and went to work on the blade. There was serious rust and pitting around the pivot that I did my best for, trying not to erase the remains of the almost dead Diana that was stamped on the tang. I repinned it, and here we are.

Was it worth it? I don't know. I guess I learned a bit about the process, and the pinning isn't terrible...but the razor? What do you think?
The scales are stained, and broken (now), and not QUITE straight. At least that was the same as before I put my hand to it. The blade is a little cleaner than when I found it...And the pinning job isn't terrible. For my first time, I guess that's not bad.

I do appreciate that. I need to hone it a wee bit (the restoration work was hard on the edge, careful as I was) to see if she shaves.

I will say this...It was fun, except for the whole breaking the scales part.

That kind of sucked.

As long as it shaves and you are proud of your accomplishment what does it matter.

Thanks for the kind words guys. If I can get it shaving, I'll be happy. Like I said in another thread, it was in a lot with a Genco that I really wanted so it wasn't even on my radar...but I'm growing to like it more and more as I learn about it.
