Default called schaffner today...they are making me flap wheels :)

i called schaffner today, i spoke to allan, hes such a good guy. im ordering on tuesday and he isnt gonna be in so he gave me his cell so that way i dont have to go through the whole song and dance of explaining what i need it for all over again. we spoke for a good 1/2 an hour.

    hes making me:
silicone carbide mixed flap wheels from 240, 320,400 up to 600
silicone carbide flap wheel at 180

the wheels are 30 bucks a pop if i go about 4". i really want to get an pneumatic grinder so i can put mini flap wheels on it.

no more annoying hand sanding and cutting up my thumb

Ahhhh....have you used flap wheels before? 4"? that fast?

Hey guys! Someone needs to post the link to the small flap wheel supplier so he can try those first without spending a fortune.

Good link!! I'll have to order a few of those. 4" grinder flap wheels are definitely WAY overkill for anything I'll be doing any time soon.

I guess if you're going into business or something, hand sanding can be a pain...

But for me, for personal restoration, I find that hand sanding makes almost a personal relationship with the razor. I learn about the blade by doing it...

I don't know, I'm probably a big sap, but I had using powertools on stuff I'm using myself. Kind of seems counterpurpose to the whole traditional elements of the straight experience.

of course, when you're doing it professionally, it's a whole other ballgame.
