Default Redwood scales in the works

Just sanded down an end piece of the redwood board with a LOT of curl in it. The piece in the pics is 1.5x3.5x7", the board is 8' long all if it like this

I'm going to attempt the one piece scales from the Wiki Making One Piece Scales - Straight Razor Place Wiki , I think I can get 4 razors worth from this piece, depending on the blades and how this piece cuts down. I'm very excited to get these going.

wow that is simply the greatest piece of redwood. The grain flows like water, if it is as shiny and smooth as it looks like now when its finished you will have yourself one hell of a scale. I just hope your going to build a scale shape as epic as your scale raw form.

Pretty timber Chef. Some shellac would make it really pop.

Hey DC, is that your homedepot find? It sure is a nice piece... best of luck with your project. I had just got done with my first attempt at a single piece and it came out okay, not great, but okay. I hope you have better luck!
