For that blade, I'd probably start with 320grit wet/dry sandpaper and I'd try to remove all the little black pits and surface rust, and get out the scratches near the edge completely, then move on to 400, 600, 1000, and 1500 or 2000, and then give it about an hours worth of MAAS metal polishing with a rag.
Total investment will probably be near $20+ worth of stuff to save your blade...but...you'll have some extra for next time! :)
Then you'll have to re-set your bevel because it will probably be ruined from all the sanding ;)
A+ from me on that, you will need all of the above and a lot of patience too!
But it will be very rewarding, and you will have more than enough left to do it all again
Woo Hoo

Welcome to SRP. +1 on the info given. Good Luck.
i appreciate the help,,i wanna try my hands at sanding..will load some pics once the job is done...just need to find the sanding paper now :aargh:
Top Tip Dude:
I dont know what they call it in Canada? but most guys on here are American and seem to call all abrasive paper "sand paper"
I use "Wet or Dry" paper made for paint work, its water proof, silicon carbide I think, and the finer grits give a very very fine finish indeed
Just thought this might Help
Good luck with the Task ahead

I would start with 80 or 120 grit on that one. I use 80, 120, 180, 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000. A magnetic sanding block can be useful so you can sand while watching TV/movies. Be prepared to be sanding for 10-20 hours. (I'll be switching to (polishing) pastes because I lack the patience)
OMG ,,20 hours :rofl2::rofl2: ok i dont wanna abuse here but how much time should i spend on each grit????
